Muscles | Rectus femoris | Encysted Chronic Hematoma of the Vastus Lateralis Muscle : MR

Swelling of the anterior lateral thigh. Rugby injury three months ago.

Well defined cystic mass located in the distal third of the Vastus Lateralis muscle. The lesion is T1 hypointense (white arrows head), hyperintense fluid signal intensity on T2 (white arrows) and with slignt peripheral enhancement after gadolinium injection (small white arrows).

It corresponds to an encysted hematoma emptied under sonographic guidance.
